Considered one of the best value Chardonnay from Napa Valley, the Rombauer Chardonnay is a must-have white wine if you’re looking for a smooth and enjoyable drink. Its 2020 vintage is currently ranked 3rd in the Top 24 Napa Chardonnay wines in California right now.

According to their website, this wine has received numerous high ratings and several accolades which include 91 points by Wine Spectator, 90 points by James Suckling, and 90 points from Robert Parker by Wine Advocate.

Who Makes Rombauer Chardonnay?

The Rombauer Chardonnay is produced by Rombauer Vineyards with owners Koerner and Joan Rombauer. Founded in 1980, the brand has been producing high-quality wines ever since. Their Chardonnay comes from a 173-acre vineyard in their Davitto Ranch.

And they are one of my favorite wineries to visit in Napa, not just because of their wines, but for their incredible views of the valley. And quite frankly, they have the best value wine tasting in all of Napa (~$20 per tasting).

Rombauer Chardonnay Review

Although this wine is around $40, it’s a good value for the money because similar wines usually cost 50% more. I recommend this wine to anyone who loves Chardonnay or white wines looking to go above the regular affordable wines.

Look

The bottle is elegant looking and the overall design looks minimalistic with the classic Rombauer blue and yellow logo. On the glass, this wine has a medium gold color.

Aroma

Upon swirling, I get a strong oak aroma, ripe peach, yellow apples, and apricot. There are also some vanilla, pear, and citrus fruits.

Taste

On the palate, this wine is vibrant, balanced, and smooth. It has a buttery taste, vanilla, notes of banana, apricot, and peach. Lastly, it has some restrained citrus notes at the end.

Finish

The Rombauer Chardonnay is a medium to full-bodied, dry, and smooth white wine. It’s creamy in the middle palate, rich, buttery, and has a strong supporting acidity that balances out everything.

I normally don’t enjoy Chardonnays that are too buttery and oaky. I prefer Chardonnays to be rich, flavorful, balanced, and delicious. And this is a reason why I enjoy this Chardonnay very much!
