Napa Valley is known for its world-renowned wine and wineries. And because of the growing popularity of visiting Napa wine country, wine tastings can be quite expensive.
Wine tasting fees in California’s Napa Valley have increased significantly over time. When you visit the region for wine tastings today, expect to pay anything between $50 and $125 per person.
So if you are looking for a budget-friendly/cheap wine tasting Napa Valley experience, we got it for you! There are a number of great spots where you can taste some amazing wines without breaking the bank. We will list out 19 of the best cheap wine tastings in Napa Valley!
And we have some great budget friendly places to stay and eat while you visit Napa Valley!
All prices listed (gathered on 9/1/2022) below are non-member prices for the public and can be changed at anytime by the winery. If you are a wine club member of the winery, the prices are typically less if not complimentary.
Rombauer Vineyards is one of the most popular wine tastings in Napa Valley. Not only is the wine tasting extremely affordable ($20) at this vineyard, but they also have fantastic wines – especially the Chardonnay and Zinfandel. And to top it off the tasting room sits on a hilltop, they have stunning valley views you can enjoy.
For just $20, you can enjoy a wine tasting flight of their best-known and beloved wines, indoors or outdoors. You’ll also learn about their production process so that you can appreciate your wine even more.
They are the first Vietnamese-owned and woman-led Napa Valley winery, so they offer a new perspective on winemaking and wine drinking. Their winery tasting room has lounge seating and a patio with views of the garden.
A wine-tasting flight of five different wines only costs $25. And the flight includes white, rose, and red wine.
As a dog owner, one of the best parts about visiting Napa Cellars is that they are dog-friendly. The beautiful grounds provide the ideal backdrop for your relaxing Napa wine tasting ($30), which is led by their knowledgeable, wine-loving staff.
The family-owned and operated winery is located in St. Helena of Napa Valley, right off the 29. They are dedicated to growing and making premium wines. They offer a $30 wine tasting for three (3) of their limited production wines.
This winery has over 500 reviews on Yelp and receives 5 stars. That is no easy feat for any establishment. But for good reason, this winery is a small and intimate winery. If you are looking for a more personable and old school approach of just good wines and good people, this is the winery to visit ($30).
You’ll have fun experiencing all types of wines with them inside their vintage, old-fashioned gas station and garage. Calistoga’s coolest winery offers one of the most unique wine tastings ($30) in Napa.
This winery is one of the best selling wineries in the US. They are especially well known for their White Zinfandel. A wine tasting flight here only costs $5 – $10. You can choose from their $5 Sweet selection, $5 Fruit Infusion Flight, or $10 Founder’s selection.
Their Signature seated tasting is $32.48 per person. Their winery garden provides an incredible view of the Palisades mountains as you’re tasting four (4) signature wines.
Overlook Tasting is $30 per person. This outdoor seated tasting will introduce you to a selection of their most beloved wines, as well as small-lot and winery-exclusive wines.
The Family Estate Tasting flight ($35) features wines hand-selected by their family to share with our guests. Named “Best Hidden Gem Winery” in Napa Valley Life Magazine’s 2020 Best of Napa Valley Awards Readers Choice.
This small, family-owned winery offers tastings with members of the family or those who actually participate in production. With their Estate Tasting ($35), you’ll be sampling at least five of the winery’s award-winning wines. The tasting session is held outside, in a secluded spot near their original old winery tasting room building.

Located in the picturesque, quaint town of Yountville, Heron House offers wine tastings for exquisite small lot wines. These normally cost $75 – $100 per person. However, they do have a Mid-Day Magic Hour which is their version of a Happy Hour.
And it’s only $25 per person and takes place Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2pm – 5pm.
They offer an intimate wine tasting of their limited production, Artisan Wines ($35) at their tasting room bar located in the heart of Yountville, Napa Valley.
Not a wine tasting flight, you only get one glass of wine. But its a self-guided tour ($30) of the beautiful and renowned Beringer estate including entrance to their historic wine-ageing cave.
Enjoy a seated tasting of four (4) delicious wines in their picturesque setting in their garden terrace ($40).
Their “Block Party” tasting ($40) is a fun tasting that changes each season and is a mix of white and red wines.
The main tasting room of Raymond, which features nice views of the vineyards, is a wonderful place to visit. You may also walk through The Corridor of Senses and their biodynamic-focused Theater of Nature walk while visiting.
Known for their sparkling wine, you can taste from your table overlooking the scenic rolling hills of Carneros region in Napa.
This winery is so high-end, it seems impossible to fit into a budget list.
Caymus Vineyards makes some of the finest wines in the world at prices ranging from $50-300 a bottle. At this price range, most wineries offer wine tastings at $75 – $100+. They produce one of my favorite Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, you can read my full review here.
But what makes the best value wine tasting, is the fact that each tasting is $50 AND can be waived when purchasing at least $50 in wine. So when you go, plan to buy at least one bottle since not only will you get your tasting fee waived, but you’ll also receive a fantastic wine.

Located in American Canyon, your classic Hilton hotel with all the amenities and a comfortable room.
Located in Calistoga, northern part of Napa, its a small boutique hotel offering only 17 rooms. They also offer single rooms with shared bath facilities (similar to a hostel).
Iconic Napa Valley roadside restaurant for burgers, fries, and shakes.
Great prices! Off the beaten path closer to Sonoma. But great BBQ, fried chicken, and sandwiches.
Plenty of food options. But my favorite is the Argentina Empanadas from EL PORTEÑO.
Best food truck in Napa with fantastic tacos and Mexican food.
Built on an actual gas station, this is the perfect place to get some breakfast or brunch. Get the donuts!
The average cost of a wine tasting in Napa Valley is $50-$75. However, there are many wineries that charge upwards of $100-$150 per person for a wine tasting.
To be honest, not that I know of, UNLESS you are part of their wine club membership.
