Overview

La Crema is a subsidiary of Kendall-Jackson, and was founded in 1979. The brand specializes in producing cool-climate wines from Sonoma and Monterey counties. All of their grapes are handpicked, and they use a combination of French and American oak barrels for aging.

There are many different types of La Crema Pinot Noir from many different wine regions that you can purchase. Each one is unique and offers its own set of flavors and aromas.

Most people will have purchased their ubiquitous La Crema Sonoma Coast or La Crema Monterey Pinot Noir. Due to their accessibility and affordable price, they are the most popular.

The Sonoma Coast is a blend of grapes from different vineyards in the region, and offers flavors of dark berries and spice. The Monterey, on the other hand, has brighter fruit flavors.

If you’re looking for something a little more special, then try one of their single-vineyard designate Pinot Noirs. These are usually more expensive, but offer a more unique and complex flavor profile.

The Best Place to Buy La Crema Pinot Noir

You can find La Crema at most major retailers, such as Costco, Target, and Walmart. However, the best place to buy it is definitely online or your local Total Wine store.

There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, online retailers often have a wider selection of La Crema wines to choose from. Secondly, they usually offer better prices than brick and mortar stores. And finally, you can have your wine delivered right to your doorstep!

So where should you buy La Crema Pinot Noir online? We recommend checking out Vivino.

Ranking the 10 Most Popular Types of La Crema Pinot Noir

1) La Crema Pinot Noir Russian River Valley

Made from the aromas of black cherry, strawberry, and oak are followed by flavors of cedar, raspberry and a little pepper. The 2019 vintage has a balanced acidity and tannins. A very good Pinot Noir from one of the best Pinot Noir regions in California.

Retails for $45. You should be able to find this red wine online or at Total Wine for just under ~$30.

2) La Crema Pinot Noir Sta Rita Hills

Blackberry, cherry, and raspberry aromas are followed by savory earthy undertones like oak, tobacco, charcoal and leather. The 2019 vintage has a rich flavor with hint of spice and very smooth and velvety.

Retails for $50, however you should be able to find for ~40 online and in stores.

3) La Crema Pinot Noir Los Carneros

The wonderfully dark, rich red is more earthy and has cherry and raspberry flavors. It is again made in a magnificent style that showcases earth, with hints of smoke, tobacco, and black tea.

Retails for $50. Although this red wine is harder to find, you should be able to find this wine for ~$40-45 online or at a store.

4) La Crema Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands

Black currant, cherry, blackberry and savory herbs give off aromas that are followed by a taste of cola, sweet tobacco, and oak. Medium-bodied red wine with mild tannins and med acidity is the 2018 vintage’s most distinctive feature.

The La Crema Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is their signature wine that has a blend of grapes from different vineyards in the Sonoma county region, and offers flavors of dark blackberries, cherries, raspberries, and spice.

Retail price $28 but you can find this wine for about ~$15 at your local Total Wine store.

6) La Crema Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

Savory notes of oak and vanilla are complemented by initial notes of sweet cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, which also gives way earthy and leather flavors. The tannins provide the wine with a supple texture.

Aromas of cherry, strawberry, blueberry, and sweet tobacco with notes of oak, vanilla, and plum complemented by subtle savory coffee flavor. It has a long finish with strong tannins and balanced acidity.

8) La Crema Nine Barrel Pinot Noir

The fruity aromas of cherry, raspberry, and toasted oak are complemented by notes of vanilla, cola, and baking spice. The 2018 vintage has a powerful concentration and firm acidity on the palate.

One of the best tasting Pinot Noirs from La Crema. It’s a wonderful red wine but at that price tag ($100) there would be other Pinot Noirs I would choose.

Retails for $100 and hard to find for a price other than that.

9) La Crema Pinot Noir Arroyo Seco

The aromas of raspberry, cherry, wet earth, and pomegranate are followed by tobacco and oak. The wine is earthier than most other La Crema Pinot Noirs with a long finish.

10) La Crema Pinot Noir Monterey

Flavors of tart red fruit and strawberry are followed by notes of beets and earth. The 2019 vintage has a smooth texture and a bright acidity. I’d give this wine an average rating value, however depending on where you purchase it still may be worth the buy based on price.

Retail price is $25 but you should be able to find this wine for about ~$12-14 at your local wine stores.

La Crema Single Vineyard Pinot Noir

These wines are normally a special release that is only made in smaller quantities. This wine is only available through the La Crema website or select retailers.

For those Pinot Noir lovers, these may be a better choice for you:
